Foodbank Hunger and Food Insecurity: The Root Causes and Consequences of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore- September is Hunger Action Month, a month where people all over America stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger. The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore is taking action by releasing a report analyzing the root causes of food insecurity in our community. On September 26 at 5:30 p.m. we will host a Stakeholder and Community Leader Conversation at Slover Library about strategies for addressing these causes. Guest speakers will include Claire Babineaux- Fontenot, Chief Executive Officer of Feeding America; Dr. Ruth T. Jones Nichols, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore; and Dr. Harry Zhang, Associate Professor at Old Dominion University.
