In the St. Paul's neighborhood, where we first launched United for Children, economic neglect has resulted in some of the greatest inequities in education, housing and health in our country. In fact, between two adjacent neighborhoods in Norfolk there is a 23-year difference in life expectancy. And, while Black individuals and families make up 64% of the population served by Mission United, they represent less than 18% of the local veteran population.
